In a stunning legal showdown set to unfold on Monday, prosecutors are set to pursue contempt charges against President Trump, alleging that he violated Judge Merchan’s gag order in the Stormy Daniels ‘hush money’ trial.

As jury selection commenced on Monday morning for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s contentious legal battle against Trump, the former president faced a barrage of allegations. Last April, Trump found himself entangled in 34 felony counts related to purportedly falsifying business records and conspiracy.

The trial, presided over by a far-left judge, has seen Trump’s First Amendment rights seemingly trampled upon with the imposition of a strict gag order. Judge Juan Merchan, who has come under intense scrutiny for his handling of the case, recently expanded the gag order to prevent Trump from criticizing his family members.

Notably, the judge’s daughter, Loren Merchan, has been revealed as a political operative aligned with the Biden-Harris campaign, raising concerns about impartiality on the bench.

Unfazed by the legal pressure, Trump took to Truth Social to voice his defiance, likening himself to a modern-day Nelson Mandela and vowing to continue speaking the truth, regardless of the consequences. He lambasted Judge Merchan for what he deemed a flagrant violation of the law and the Constitution.

Now, Bragg’s office is escalating the confrontation, seeking court sanctions against Trump and even threatening him with jail time. According to reports from MSNBC, the Manhattan DA’s office is pushing for a $1,000 sanction for each of Trump’s three prior posts deemed to have violated the gag order. Furthermore, they demand that Trump remove the posts and warn him of dire consequences should he continue to flout the court’s directives.
