Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi found herself in a heated exchange with MSNBC’s Katy Tur after being called out in real time for her assertions about job numbers under President Biden.
Pelosi’s claim that Biden created 9 million jobs was swiftly debunked, sparking a tense moment on air. Despite the pushback, Pelosi doubled down, asserting that Trump’s presidency saw the worst job losses in history.
But Tur wasn’t letting Pelosi off the hook, pointing out the obvious: the unprecedented challenges posed by the global pandemic during Trump’s tenure.
Pelosi, visibly irked, refused to back down, accusing Tur of defending Trump. However, Tur quickly rebuffed the insinuation, asserting her independence from partisan bias.
Yet, the truth remains: Biden’s touted job numbers are misleading. Job recovery post-pandemic doesn’t equate to new job creation, especially when data reveals that the bulk of these positions have gone to foreign-born workers, including undocumented immigrants.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, while native-born Americans continue to face job losses, the immigrant workforce has seen significant growth, leaving many Americans struggling to find employment opportunities.
Despite the rhetoric, the reality is stark: millions of native-born Americans remain sidelined as foreign-born workers continue to fill the job market, a trend that has persisted throughout Biden’s tenure.
