At New Fairfield High School in Connecticut, the choir’s decision to perform a song honoring George Floyd has sparked a firestorm of criticism.

The revelation came to light thanks to Mason Cipriani, an alum of New Fairfield and a correspondent for Campus Reform.

Directed by Andrew Gadwah, the choir was instructed to sing “Weather: Stand the Storm,” a composition that delves into Floyd’s death and the subsequent Black Lives Matter protests of 2020.

Featuring provocative lines like “white silence equals violence” and “whatever contracts keep us social compel us now to disorder the disorder,” the song has ignited debate.

Critics argue that the song’s politically charged nature is inappropriate for a school setting, with Cipriani denouncing it as a forced indoctrination into the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It sickens me that the first year in the brand new building started off so poorly,” Cipriani lamented to Campus Reform. “At the end of the day, it’s about education not indoctrination. Don’t shove things down people’s [sic] throat.”
