According to a recent report, the retail giant Kohl’s, headquartered in Milwaukee, has decided not to sponsor any events at the Republican National Convention. This decision comes as former President Donald Trump, who has been convicted of a felony, is anticipated to secure his party’s nomination at the convention.

CNBC reporter Brian Schwartz shared on Thursday that the major retailer has chosen to “opt out of sponsoring Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention” later this summer, as reported on X. “They become a significant company in the state to announce they won’t sponsor the event,” Schwartz added.

According to a CNBC report, a Kohl’s spokeswoman confirmed, stating, “Kohl’s is not a political organization nor donor and is not sponsoring nor engaging in any specific RNC events.”

According to the report, approximately 50,000 individuals are anticipated to gather in Milwaukee from July 15 to 18, coinciding with Trump’s expected nomination as the leading candidate. Additionally, the convention aligns closely with Trump’s scheduled sentencing in a Manhattan criminal court, where he faces charges of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments made before the 2016 election.

Among those applauding Kohl’s decision was outspoken Trump critic George Conway, a longstanding conservative figure. “Good for Kohl’s,” he expressed on X. “No self-respecting business should endorse the cult-like and deceitful glorification of a morally corrupt sociopath and convicted felon.”
