On Monday afternoon, John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, was placed under a ground stop by the Air Traffic Control System Command Center, a division of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Thunderstorms were cited as the reason for implementing the ground stop.

The ground stop is anticipated to be in effect from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Monday evening.

JFK Airport is renowned as one of the busiest airports in the United States, consistently ranking among the top 10 busiest airport hubs in the country.
