Audrey Lamy, a prominent French actress, experienced a burglary at her residence in the southern part of France while she was away filming. The thieves made away with valuable jewelry and designer handbags, leaving behind significant damage that required an €18,200 repair bill.

When three suspects, all illegal immigrants of Italian-Bosnian origin, were apprehended in connection with the burglary spree, Lamy made a surprising decision. Rather than pressing charges, she chose not to file a police complaint, citing a desire to “let it slide” instead of adding more legal trouble to the suspects’ indictment.

The migrant trio, accused of multiple burglaries over several months, faced trial before the Montpellier judicial court. Remarkably, two of them were acquitted of all charges, while the third received a one-year prison sentence and a 10-year ban from entering French territory after serving his time.

Despite the potential impact of Lamy’s complaint on securing convictions, it remains unclear how much evidence the public prosecutor had gathered regarding the other burglaries.
