Former NBC sportscaster Bob Costas slammed President Trump and his supporters during an appearance on CNN’s “Smerconish” Saturday, branding Trump’s backers as part of a “toxic cult” and labeling the ex-president as the “most disgraceful figure in modern presidential history.”

In a fiery exchange with host Michael Smerconish, Costas didn’t hold back his hatred for the former President, expressing his clear bias against Trump from the outset, admitting, “You come at this from a position of not wanting to see Trump get elected. You should state that at the outset. True?”

Costas when full blown Trump Derangement Syndrome, “Yes, absolutely. He is by far the most disgraceful figure in modern presidential history. He’s only become more disgraceful since 2016 and since 2020. He’s a bubbling cauldron of loathsome traits. You have to be in the throws of some sort of toxic delusion in a toxic cult to believe that Donald Trump has ever been in any sense emotionally, psychologically, intellectually or ethically fit to be President of the United States.”

Furthermore, Costas took jabs at President Biden, suggesting that Biden’s legacy might suffer due to his perceived weakness and failure to seize the moment as a statesman. He implied that another candidate should run against Trump, stating, “He had a chance to be seen as a statesman and a patriot. Now his legacy is likely to be that of a man whose hubris prevented him from seizing the moment in an appropriate way, and at best, he can squeak by Trump ”“ that’s at best.”

In another scathing remark, Costas referred to Trump as a “monster,” cautioning against sending him out to “slay the dragon” at this point in his life.

This condemnation of Trump and his supporters aligns with the broader sentiment from the left, which is facing the challenge of Trump’s continued popularity, as evidenced by recent polls showing Trump leading Biden by 9 points in a Harris X survey.
