At the recent Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) annual meeting, Jesse Phillips was elected to become the next Vice-Chairman of the state party. He replaces Evan Power, who was elected chairman after Christian Zeigler was ousted over a sex scandal. Power joined President Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Matt Gaetz, Jimmy Patronis, Wilton Simpson, Speaker Designate Daniel Perez, and others in endorsing Phillips’ opponent Kevin Cabrera. However, at the end of the day, Jesse’s grassroots campaign skills delivered a convincing win, 112 to 93.

From 2010-2012, he founded and ran a grassroots statewide campaign to distribute over 100,000 judicial voter guides highlighting the records of liberal activist judges to local groups in many counties. Over the years, he’s managed dozens of campaigns at the municipal, county, state, and federal levels, such as a major upset win by Bob Cortes in HD30 against a rising Democrat star and Tony Boni’s victory, which was a proxy fight against Stephanie Murphy’s campaign apparatus.

Phillips says that the lessons learned in his grassroots upbringing, fighting tooth and nail alongside voters on the streets of Seminole County, prepared him to endure and win his third statewide party election and become the RPOF Vice Chair on the basis of hard work, a history of successful leadership, and conviction to stand on principle without any major endorsements or establishment support.

He will now turn his attention to serving and supporting Chairman Evan Power, working to ensure the party is doing all it can to continue to lead the way nationally as they seek to take our country back this November.

When asked what his plan was for his first term as vice chairman, he simply responded, “win.”
