Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin faced another hospitalization on Sunday, this time due to symptoms indicating a pressing bladder issue, as revealed by the Pentagon.
Adding to concerns, less than a month after his discharge from the hospital post-complications from prostate cancer treatment, Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder disclosed Austin’s admission to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center around 2:20 pm.

Ryder assured that Deputy Secretary of Defense is primed to step into the role of Secretary of Defense if necessary, emphasizing Austin’s preparedness by noting, “Secretary Austin traveled to the hospital with the unclassified and classified communications systems necessary to perform his duties.”
Furthermore, Ryder confirmed that the deputy secretary of defense and the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have been briefed, with notifications made to the White House and Congress.
