U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to consumers about a vegan pizza recall due to an undeclared allergen. The product, 365 Whole Foods Market Vegan Ultimate Veggie Thin Crust Pizza, has been recalled by its manufacturer, Richelieu Foods Inc. of Wheeling, Illinois. The reason for the recall is the presence of milk in the product, which poses a risk to those with milk and dairy allergies.
The affected pizzas, with a lot code of 06152024 and a best by date of June 15, 2024, have been distributed to four states in the U.S.: Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The FDA has confirmed that 144 individual pizzas have entered the supply chain, and they come in green and white packaging with black writing and an image of the pizza on the box.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported thus far. The FDA has clarified that “all other Whole Foods 365 pizzas are properly labeled, and no other products are included” in the warning issued on February 7.
Consumers who may have purchased the product are advised to either throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone with questions can contact Richelieu Foods by calling 224-998-0357 or emailing info@richelieufoods.com (mailto:info@richelieufoods.com).

Milk is one of the major food allergens in the U.S., along with eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. People with milk allergies can experience symptoms such as hives, wheezing, itching around the lips and mouth, coughing, shortness of breath, and vomiting. In severe cases, it can lead to anaphylaxis, a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention.
